Summer 06

" Pump the horn! pump the horn!   Chiti-chiti Bang-bang "

Thank you to all the friendly people
I have met in Wales, Ireland and Prescott Hill

Summer 06 with my Hotchkiss AM2, 1926

Prescott Hill

(to see the pix click on yellow titles)

6366 km / 3979 miles, alone, carefully & safely from the 6th July to the 9th August
with this "bloody lovely" and "brilliant" French made and English coachbuilt car
through England, the whole tours of Wales & Ireland.
The coronation was of course the speed hill climb in Prescott Hill
a rendezvous for vintage cars and connoisseurs.
But everywhere I was, the kids were amused by seeing Chiti-Chiti-Bang-Bang!

A travel with a vintage car never goes without troubles.
A tube was punctured but I had some others in the boattail behind the seat.
I have had to retighten the rivets of a brakedrum which were a bit slackened.
A farmer from the Abergele Campsite near Conwy on the northern coast of Wales
gave me some help in his workshop on his bench with two big steel hammers.

My car is well known by several competitors of hill climbs
because it had taken part in these in Prescott or in England and Ireland.
Coachbuild by Melhuish & Co. of Camden, 18th Jan. 1926, Chassis/engine Sept. 1925,
VSCC registered and prepared for hill climbs by the former owners
(oil consumption only 1 litre per 3000 miles!!!)

Thank you to Joris Bergsma, PreWarCar.com editor & owner, Netherlands,
and to his lovely family for having let me share his table in Prescott Hill
and for having had together a quiet taste of French wine.
